Last night we saw a great show in The Great American Music Hall in San Francisco. Opening band was Jim White, an alt-country singer from Pensacola, Florida.

JIM WHITE: In my town there’s a man who dressed up as Jesus and he drives around in a motor home with a big cross on the back. Every morning he drives to the place where the most traffic comes and he climbs on top of the motor home and he holds the cross and he waves to people and he reminds them that Jesus died for their sins. To him that is a serious job. To me it’s sad but funny. In my town there are people dressed up like Jesus walking around quite a bit.
Jim also stars in the recently released movie Searching For The Wrong-Eyed Jesus — Now playing at The Balbao in San Francisco.
The main act was of course The Pernice Brothers. We saw them last at a great show in Berkeley This venue was bigger. When MB went to get some drinks at the bar, she noticed a scruffy guy standing next to her, and realized it was Joe Pernice! She said “You’re Joe!”, and proceeded telling him about the show in Berkeley, now almost two years ago. Joe was very friendly and him and MB talked for a little bit more while he finished some pre-show drinks…

Joe looked very different, but sang better than ever. They played a few songs of their new album “Discover a Lovelier You”. Joe did an acoustic “Bum Leg”. As an encore they did an amazing version of “Flaming Wreck” which went in a crazy guitar noise adventure.
The show ended at about 00:30 and we ventured back to Russian Hill, where the car was parked.
