Last weekend, my friends Joe, Tony, Chris and I started the ambitious project of removing all the concrete in our backyard.

Five and a half hours later, with the help of the Brute and the bar we managed to break it all up!

The area that we broke up was 50 feet deep, on average 10 feet wide and on average 4.5 inches thick. That’s 7 cubic yards or 189 cubic feet (5.4 cubic meters). With concrete weighing on average 150 pounds per cubic feet, that’s 28350 pounds (12860 kg) or 14 ton.

Miniature snow huts
CANDLELIT HUTS: A visitor took photos of the candlelit miniature Kamakura, or snow huts, on Monday during the Kamakura Snow Festival in Japan. In the 400-year-old folk event, local children offer sweet sake and grilled rice cakes to visitors as they invite them into the snow huts to worship the god of water at an alter carved inside.(Kiyoshi Ota/Getty Images)

Garden Fresh in Mountain View serves these ‘imitation’ meat dishes. Never had this type of food before. It’s quite tasty: scallion pancakes and my new favorite Kung-Pao chicken.
